Imagine your most beautiful you.
At Del Mar Aesthetic, we use a combination of techniques and skin care to help minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, bringing back a refreshed, natural look. Depending upon the treatments used, often patients see results immediately or within a week.
Our goal is to help you look more youthful and exceptionally natural — with minimal to no downtime. We will work with you to determine what products or combinations will help you best achieve your aesthetic goals.
Botulinum Type A injections (which include Botox Cosmetic®, Dysport ®,and Xeomin®) are by far the most popular cosmetic treatments nationwide, due to their long safety profile and effectiveness at fighting dynamic wrinkles and lines of expression and the power to truly rejuvenate one’s appearance. They work by temporarily preventing communication from the nerves to targeted muscles of expression, causing them to relax, thereby reducing dynamic lines and preventing their progression. Areas commonly treated with Botulinum Type A injections are:
- glabellar lines (“elevens” or “frown lines”)
- crows feet (wrinkles around the eyes)
- bunny lines (vertical lines on the nose)
- horizontal forehead creases
- vertical lip lines
- cobblestone appearance of the chin
- platysmal bands of the neck
Effects begin after several days and peak in 1 – 2 weeks. Results typically last 3 – 6 months. We are often asked which product works better. Actually, the differences are subtle and aesthetic results depend less on which Botulinum Toxin A product is used and more on how it is applied. Recognized as one of the most experienced Botox providers in the country (Allergan Black Diamond distinction), we apply our clinical expertise to achieve the right balance in softening lines of expression and creating a refreshed appearance, while still maintaining natural-appearing and balanced facial expression.
Injectable dermal fillers are gel-like substances used to restore volume, fill-in fine lines to deep creases, or enhance facial contours from the inside-out. In the last decade, the evolution of dermal fillers and their use has dramatically changed how we approach facial aesthetics. Dermal fillers are an increasingly popular choice for facial rejuvenation because they are a safe, flexible, and immediate solution to looking younger and refreshed without the cost, risk, and down-time of surgery. Appropriately and artistically applied, the results are beautiful and natural-appearing.
There are a variety of FDA-approved dermal filler products that we can use to achieve your aesthetic goals. Each has slightly different characteristics in terms of texture, density, optimal injection depth, and duration, which means that certain fillers work better for certain areas of concern. Most fillers are infused with lidocaine to help minimize discomfort during and after treatment. Common issues dermal fillers can address:
- soften lines around nose and mouth. (a.k.a. marionette lines, smile lines, and parentheses)
- enhance & restore volume to sunken cheeks and temples.
- diminish vertical lip lines
- plump & enhance the lips
- smooth out a chin crease
- hand rejuvenation
If you are considering dermal fillers for facial rejuvenation, a consultation is the best place to start. We will discuss your aesthetic concerns and goals, explain our approach to ‘natural facial sculpting’, and review your best options for dermal fillers and other complimentary treatments.
We offer the following FDA-approved dermal fillers:
Hyaluronic acid (HA) - Juvederm, Belotero, Restylane, Perlane and Voluma
FDA approved HA fillers include: Juvederm, Belotero, Restylane, Perlane, and VOLUMA. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that is plentiful in youthful skin. It helps keep skin plump and hydrated. HA fillers are soft, clear, and gel-like. The newest member of the HA family, VOLUMA, is notably thicker and spongier, making it ideal for lifting and restoring volume in the cheek. The results of HAs are temporary, most lasting 6 to 12 months or longer before the body gradually and naturally absorbs the particles. VOLUMA can last up to 2 years with moderate correction.
Voluma (Hyaluronic Acid)
JUVEDERM VOLUMA®XC is one of the most popular hyaluronic acids fillers. It was the first FDA-appoved injectable gel to instantly add volume to the cheek area to correct age-related volume loss. It can provide a contour and subtle lift for up to two years with moderate correction.
Radiesse® (Calcium Hydroxylapatite)
Radiesse® is made of calcium hydroxylapatite, also a naturally occurring substance found primarily in our bones and teeth. The tiny calcium particles in Radiesse are very tiny, almost microscopic, and suspended in a smooth gel. It’s consistency is typically thicker than that of the softer HA fillers, and the results will typically last longer as well, about 12 months for most patients. It’s mid-range thickness and duration means that it can be used to address a variety of issues ranging from softening superficial folds and wrinkles around the nose and mouth, correction of upper and mid-face volume loss, and even hand rejuvenation. Radiesse is also reported to help stimulate natural collagen production in the skin.
Sculptra® Aesthetic (Injectable poly-L-lactic acid)
Sculptra® Aesthetic is not a traditional “filler” but rather a “bio-stimulator”, meaning that it stimulates the body to gradually produce it’s own collagen and soft tissue, thereby increasing the volume and improving the structure of the dermis. It consists of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible (meaning it is safe to use in the body), biodegradable synthetic substance. It has been used for many years in a number of medical devices, such as dissolvable stitches. Sculptra is considered “semi-permanent”, as results typically last more than 2 years. Sculptra® Aesthetic treatment is usually given as part of a series of 3 or more injections at least 1 month apart. The results are soft, subtle and gradual, and long-lasting. In addition to improved volume and softening deeper folds, many clients report improvement in the overall texture of the skin as well.
Bellafill® is a combination filler and “biostimulator”. It consists of tiny “microspheres” of Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) evenly suspended in a soft collagen filler. PMMA is a synthetic, biocompatible (meaning not harmful to the body) substance that has been used in medical implants for decades. The collagen in Bellafill® provides immediate volume and smoothing, while the PMMA microspheres remain in place long-term and create a matrix that stimulates and supports collagen production in your skin for lasting improvement in your skin’s firmness and structure. Bellafill is used for long-lasting correction of deep facial wrinkles, facial contouring, and is now approved for the correction of certain moderate to severe facial acne scars. A skin test is required prior to Bellafill treatments in case of allergic reaction to the collagen.
Asclera® Schlerotherapy for Veins
We offer a variety of cosmetic lasers and other energy technologies to improve skin texture and tone, and for a number of specialized benefits, such as body contouring, skin tightening, hair removal, and tattoo removal. Our laser and non-laser treatments are all non-ablative, which means they work deeply in the skin without removing or otherwise damaging the top layers. For this reason, our treatments provide their benefit with little to no downtime for our clients.
The Fraxel Re:store® Laser is the first non-ablative (meaning no open sores) laser treatment to have the effective impact of an ablative laser. It effectively treats both skin texture (wrinkles, fine lines, skin laxity, acne and other scars) as well as skin tone and irregular pigmentation from sun damage or melasma. Done in a series of treatments (3 – 5 depending on the patient), no open wound is created and healing occurs quickly so there is very little, if any, downtime.
ELOS IPL Skin Rejuvenation
A revolutionary advance over Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) alone, ELOS (elecro-optical synergy) technology combines IPL with bi-polar radio frequency (RF) energy to more safely and more effectively stimulate collagen and treat uneven-toned skin. Still one of the most popular aesthetic procedures, IPL, also called photofacial or photorejuvenation, delivers broadband light through the skin and is selectively absorbed by red and brown pigment. With ELOS Skin Rejuvenation, the colorblind RF energy follows the pulsed light after an undetectable delay and is preferentially absorbed by pigments preheated by the light energy. This allows for decreased optical fluence for the same total energy, improved safety, better comfort, and enhanced clinical efficacy than IPL alone. With a series of treatments, age spots, most benign brown pigments, and redness cause by broken capillaries on the face and body are removed, resulting in a smoother, more youthful-looking, even-toned appearance.
Exilis® Body Contouring and Skin Tightening
Exilis Skin Tightening
Exilis is effective for tightening up loose and wrinkled skin anywhere on the face and body. Age and environmental damage cause a dramatic decrease in the quality and quantity of collagen and elastin, substances that give skin its firmness and elasticity. Exilis helps to reverse these changes through delivery of focused thermal energy to disrupt the damaged collagen and elastin fibers. Natural healing process that follows produces fresh, better-organized collagen and elastin fibers. You will experience some immediate contraction, and over time, improved skin smoothness, texture, and tightened pores. Results are seen as soon as 2 to 3 sessions with 4 to 6 sessions typically recommended at 1 – 2 week intervals. Common treatment areas include the eye area, around the mouth or chin, jaw line, neck or décolleté, abdomen, and knees.
Exilis Body Contouring
Exilis™ is a gentle, well-tolerated non-surgical method for body shaping, circumferential reduction of fat, and cellulite reduction. While not a weight-loss program, Exilis can be effective for targeted fatty deposits on the body such as abdominal ‘pooch’, ‘love-handles’, ‘muffin-top’, back fat or ‘bra bulge’, arms, ‘saddlebags,’ ‘cankle’ ankles. Intense skin cooling allows the RF to penetrate 1 – 3 cm below the skin, effectively targeting persistent trouble areas of fat and can improve the appearance of cellulite. Patients can see results as soon as 2 to 3 sessions with 4 to 6 sessions recommended. You’ll see changes in facial contours, body contours, mild improvement in the appearance of cellulite, and even a small amount of circumferential fat reduction.
Ultherapy® is advanced technology that utilizes the energy of ultrasound to boost collagen and actually create a non-invasive “lift” from the brow to the chest, with no down time, no surgery, no scars! Currently, it is the only non-invasive procedure FDA-cleared to lift skin on the neck, jawline, under the chin and on the eyebrow, and improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the décolletage. With Ultherapy, therapeutic levels of energy can reach deeper than with any other non-invasive device, down to the connective tissue level which supports the over lying skin. The treatment incorporates ultrasound imaging allowing actual visualization of the skin layers and tissue structures being treated, ensuring the treatment energy is delivered to the depth it will be most beneficial. Because it bypasses the surface of the skin, there is no down-time and can be used on any skin-type. The ultrasound energy triggers a natural healing response under the skin, jumpstarting the regenerative process that, over the next several months, tightens the connective tissue and produces new collagen for a fresher, more youthful look from your brow to your chest!
Laser Hair Removal
For men and women who are tired of shaving, tweezing, and waxing to remove unwanted hair, laser hair removal has become the preferred option—and a beautiful and practical solution. Hair removal continues to be the #1 requested energy-based aesthetic treatment.
We proudly offer the revolutionary ELOS (Electro–Optical–Synergy) hair removal system, which delivers the safest, fastest, and most effective solution for hair removal. In fact, it is safer for dark skin and more effective for light hair vs. laser alone. Electro-Optical synergy essentially combines a high power Diode LASER (light energy) with Bi-polar RF (radiofrequency) for increased effectiveness, safety and comfort, compared with lasers alone.

Laser Tattoo Removal
Is it time to ‘rethink your ink’?
Methods to remove a tattoo depend on several factors such as the source of the ink, the body part involved, skin type, and even depth of tattoo into the skin. We offer two types of tattoo removal procedures: 1) Laser Tattoo Removal and 2) Trans Epidermal Pigment Release (TEPR), delivered via a device called the Eclipse MicroPen™ TR. For laser tattoo removal, we use a Q-switched laser, which has become the gold standard treatment for all colors of tattoo removal. Through a process called selective photothermolysis, a short, high-energy pulse is directed deep into the skin and is absorbed by the ink pigment, breaking it up into minute particles that the body can readily absorb.
When you remove your unwanted tattoo at Del Mar Aesthetic Clinic, you also make a real difference in our community as we donate funds from each procedure to support Change in Action, a nonprofit that helps survivors committed to turning their lives around remove reminders of their painful past.
Our team of aestheticians is expertly trained in a variety of medical-grade aesthetic treatments and services to deliver just what your skin needs.
Illuminize®, Rejuvenize™, and Vitalize® Peels provide vibrant, radiant looking skin with minimal downtime. SkinMedica peels smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, leaving noticeable improvements after just one peel and compelling results after three to six peels.
The VI Peel™ is used either alone or in conjunction with lasers and injectables to improve skin’s tone, texture and clarity, reduce or eliminate age spots, freckles, and hyper-pigmentation, and soften lines and wrinkles. It is also used to clear acne skin conditions and reduce scars.
SilkPeel™ Dermalinfusion Microdermabrasion
Recently featured as a celebrity “secret”, Silkpeel Dermalinfusion is actually not a chemical peel as its name might imply. Rather it’s an advanced form of microdermabrasion, that combines non-invasive exfoliation of dead skin cells with the deep infusion of skin-specific topical solutions to improve and revitalize the skin. SilkPeel is effective treatment for a wide variety of skin conditions, including acne, blackheads, hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone, irregular skin texture, fine lines and wrinkles. The procedure employs vacuum controlled microdermabrasion along with simultaneous infusion of specific therapeutic solutions, which are pushed deep in the skin, right down to the dermal junction, allowing you to reap the benefits on an accelerated basis.
Microdermabrasion is a popular “lunchtime” skin rejuvenation treatment involving mechanical exfoliation of the dead outer layers of skin cells, leaving healthier, more radiant skin and stimulating collagen growth. Vibradermabrasion is a newer, patented, more advanced alternative to traditional microdermabrasion in which rapidly vibrating paddles covered in abrasive particles are used to essentially “sand” off the top layer of dull, sun-damaged and dead skin cells. Vibradermabrasion has the advantage over microdermabrasion because it can exfoliate faster and deeper without the stinging and redness associated with microdermabrasion. The result is smoother, more radiant skin, with no pain or down-time.
Customized Clinical Facial
Whatever state your skin is in, we customize a clinical-strength facial that will smooth and refine your skin. It’s not uncommon for our aestheticians to use several different products and techniques depending upon your skin’s dryness, sun damage, acne, fine lines or clinical skin condition.
Acne-prone skin is susceptible to clogged pores – dirt and oils trapped in skin follicles. A deep cleansing facial not only “vacuums” out the pores but also provides a layer of protection from future break outs. Together with medical-grade skin care, acne can be kept under control.
We are pleased to introduce the Eclipse MicroPen™ dermal micro-needling treatment, a revolutionary cordless dermal micro-needling device with several advantages over previous generation of anti-aging devices such as lasers and dermal needle rollers. Performed by one of our professionally trained licensed estheticians, Automated Micro-Needling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT) is an innovation in aesthetic medicine for treating the appearance of fine lines, scars and improvement of the skin’s overall appearance / texture. Thousands of controlled micro-punctures into the dermis activate the body’s own natural restorative healing processes, stimulating collagen and elastin production. This stimulation transforms blemished and irregular textured tissue and improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, resulting in smoother, clearer, more vibrant skin.
Eclipse MicroPen™ can be used to enhance the skin on all parts of the body; face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back. It can be used to treat a wide range of conditions:
- Fine Lines and moderate wrinkles
- Scars from acne, trauma, or surgery
- Uneven skin tone or texture
- Stretch marks
- Treats Photo-damage and premature aging
- Treats Skin laxity
- Treats Enlarged pores
Waxing and Threading
Waxing hair removal uses a resin-based wax like product to remove the entire hair follicle from the root. Results can last up to six weeks, though over time frequent waxing can cause the hair follicle to become damaged and stop growing hair.
Threading hair is an ancient method commonly practiced in Eastern countries but is becoming very popular. A cotton thread is pulled along unwanted hair in a twisting motion, to trap hair in a mini lasso, and lifts hair right out of the follicle. Threading removes the entire hair follicle and can last up to 6 weeks. Over time, frequent threading can cause the hair follicle to become damaged, and stop growing hair so results can become permanent.
Skin becomes progressively thin and less elastic over time. And, the effects of photo damage and hormonal changes can lead to fine lines and wrinkles as well as irregular discoloration and pigmentation. We use a combination of aesthetic treatments and techniques to resurface loose, crepey skin and clear hyperpigmentation. These treatments are enhanced when used in combination with a healthy at-home regimen of medical-grade skin care. Together, the effect is a tighter, lighter, more even-toned look.
